D200 Router passive Power Over Ethernet (PoE) ports
Topic
This article describes the passive power over Ethernet (PoE) ports on D200-series routers
Environment
- Datto D200 Routers
Description
The Datto D200's LAN 3 and LAN 4 ports provide 24V passive PoE, which is disabled by default. When you enable PoE on these ports in Datto Network Manager, they will always provide 24V power, no matter what device is connected.
Why passive POE?
- Passive PoE costs less.
- Passive PoE is simpler to support in the D200's small device footprint.
- Since certain Datto Access Points also support passive PoE, it is a simple way to connect and power WiFi from the D200.
PoE port considerations
- You should only connect devices that accept 24V Passive PoE to these ports.
- Be sure the PoE function is disabled on these ports unless you are connecting them to a Datto Access Point port that accepts 24V Passive PoE.
The following Datto Access Point models accept 24V passive PoE:
- AP42
- AP62
